Area code 905 is a telephone area code in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) serving the province of Ontario in Canada. It covers the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) surrounding the city of Toronto, including cities such as Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, and Markham. It was created in 1993 as a split from 416. It was overlaid by 289 in 2001, 365 in 2013,[1][2] and 742 in 2021.
