Object history
English: The existence of proper seals is proven since 1476. As the pattern displayed the shield of the Bavarian dukes from the Wittelsbach kin since the very beginning, the seal must have been adopted after 1373. Before Hirschau belonged to the "new Bohemian territories" between 1353 and 1373, in 1367 it was first mentioned as a city. The stag (German: Hirsch) is a canting element. The Au, a kind of meadow, was symbolised in between by little trees and by a young forest plantation of firs, which were removed in the 20th century.
