The Drop is a 2014 American crime movie directed by Michaël R. Roskam. It was written by Dennis Lehane and is based on his 2009 short story "Animal Rescue". It is about Bob Saginowski, a bartender who becomes involved in an investigation after the mob ran bar that he works at was robbed. It stars Tom Hardy, Noomi Rapace, James Gandolfini (his last movie role), and Matthias Schoenaerts.

The movie was produced by TSG Entertainment and Chernin Entertainment. It premiered at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival and was released theatrically on September 12, 2014. It had positive reviews and has an 89% approval rating based on 198 votes on Rotten Tomatoes.[1]
