A failed coup d'état happened in Guinea-Bissau on 1 February 2022.[1][2] Gunfire was heard coming from the government house in Bissau.[3]
A few hours later, president Umaro Sissoco Embalo said the coup over, he said that "many" members of the security forces had been killed in a "failed attack against democracy."[4]
