On August 4, 2023, a Twitch streamer, named Kai Cenat announced a huge giveaway, to take place at Union Square in Manhattan, New York City. Over 5,000 people went to Manhattan’s Union Square for the giveaway that did not go as planned. It was a Friday afternoon, with some people climbing onto vehicles, throwing chairs and punching other people. Police struggled to control the chaos.[1]
