Prof. Abbas Raza Nayyar (born 30th June 1976 in Jalalpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, India) is a distinguished academic, author, and prominent scholar of Urdu literature. He is currently serving as a Professor of Urdu and the Head of the Department of Urdu at Lucknow University, Lucknow, India. Prof. Nayyar has made significant contributions to the fields of literary criticism, Urdu language, and culture.
Early Life and Education
[change | change source]Prof. Abbas Raza Nayyar[1] was born in Jalalpur, Ambedkar Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, India. He had a distinguished academic journey, completing his education with first-class honour's. He pursued his higher education at Lucknow University, where he excelled and became a meritorious student. Prof. Nayyar was awarded a PhD in Urdu from Lucknow University, and his academic achievements set the foundation for his future career in the field of Urdu literature and education.[2]
Career
[change | change source]Prof. Nayyar[3] began his professional career as a lecturer in the Department of Urdu at Maharaja Harishchandra PG College, affiliated with Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, on 13th July 1999. After gaining valuable experience, he moved to Lucknow University, where he was appointed as a Senior Lecturer (Assistant Professor). Over the years, he progressed to the position of Professor and Head of the Department of Urdu at Lucknow University.
He is also involved in policy-making for the development of education and cultural activities. Prof. Nayyar has chaired various committees focusing on the promotion of education and Urdu language development.[4]

His work on the legendary Urdu writer Khwaja Ahmad Abbas, titled Khwaja Ahmad Abbas: A Study of His Literary Contributions, is considered a rare and significant contribution to Urdu literary studies. The book has been published by an educational publishing house with the ISBN 97893-5073-999-4.
In addition to his books, Prof. Nayyar has published more than 75 articles in reputable national and international journals, further cementing his reputation as a leading scholar in his field.[5]
