Biography

[change | change source]

Alain Sikorski was born in Liège on 3 February 1959 to a Belgian-Polish family. He lived until the age of sixteen in Tehran. After his studies, he completed his military service in Germany before starting a career in advertising. He opened his own studio SP Graphic2, but had to close it in 1987.[1][2]

He turned to comics, for which he had already had done commissioned work for Cockerill-Sambre.[3] In 1990, approached by the scriptwriter Denis Lapière, he took over the series Tif et Tondu.[3] He drew for Spirou magazine from 1990.[4] Together, they produced six albums between 1993 and 1997, published by Dupuis. Subsequently and in the Whodunit genre, Sikorski and Lapière began the series La Clé du mystère [fr], whose last pages of the albums were sealed so that the reader could discover the culprit himself. The series has five albums published by the same publishers.[4] In 2007, he succeeded Stédo [fr] as the cartoonist of the humorous series Garage Isidore [fr] in Spirou magazine, and was the cartoonist until 2012.[1][4] Afterwards he retired as a comics artist.[5]

Sikorski died in Liège on 21 January 2025, at the age of 65.[6]
