Alan Scott is a major character and superhero from the DC Comics universe. He is the first human character on Earth to bear the mantle of Green Lantern. He first appeared in All-American Comics #16, in July 1940, and was created by the late Bill Finger and the late Martin Nodell.
A founding member of the legendary Justice Society of America, he fought with that group for decades starting just before World War II, aiding in that conflict outside the front lines, where a Nazi-held mystic artifact prevented the JSA from going. He is also the father of Jennifer-Lynn Hayden and Todd Rice, who became superheroes known as "Jade" and "Obsidian".
