Ancien Régime

The Ancien Régime (French for Old Regime or Old Order) was the social and political system of absolute monarchy in France from 1500 to the French Revolution in 1792. The Ancien Régime was marked by the ideology of absolutism and the preservation of aristocratic privileges.
