Andrew Kwabena Asamoah (born December 18, 1945) is a Ghanaian entrepreneur and philanthropist, known for founding and serving as the executive chairman of A&C Development Limited, which operates Ghana's first commercial lifestyle retail center, A&C Mall.[1][2] Asamoah has held leadership roles in both national and international organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO).

Early Life and Education

Asamoah was born on December 18, 1945, in Kumasi, Ghana. He completed his G.C.E. "O" Levels from the Royal Society of Arts in 1964.[3] He earned a Certificate in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin, USA, in 1970 and later obtained a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Journalism and International Affairs from the School of Journalism and Television in the United Kingdom.[4] He also holds a law degree from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, and qualified as a Barrister at Law from the Nigeria Law School in 1984. In 2021, he was awarded an honorary Doctorate in Business Administration from the Swiss School of Business and Management in Geneva, Switzerland.[5]

World Health Organization

Asamoah worked with the World Health Organization (WHO) from 1970 to 2000, holding various roles, including Director of Career Development and Global Security Coordinator at WHO Headquarters in Geneva. He also served as the Director of Administration and Finance for the WHO Regional Office for Europe in Copenhagen.[6] Asamoah contributed to policy development, human resources management, and global staff security programs during his tenure.

A&C Development Limited

In 2004, Asamoah founded A&C Development Limited, a real estate company based in Ghana. The company's flagship project, A&C Mall, is Ghana's first locally owned lifestyle retail center, featuring a mix of retail, office spaces, and community services.[7] The development also includes A&C Corner, a home décor center, and A&C Village, a mixed-use property under construction in Oyibi, Accra.[8]

Asamoah has served on numerous boards and committees, including as a trustee of the Otumfuor Osei Tutu II Foundation and as the Chairman of the Ghana National Labour Commission.[9][10] He has also held leadership positions with the Fondation Institut Pasteur du Dakar in Senegal, focusing on vaccine production and public health in West Africa.

The foundation focuses on providing scholarships to underprivileged students in Ghana.[16] Additionally, he has supported various charitable causes, including donations to the University of Cape Coast School of Medical Sciences and contributions to relief efforts for flood victims in Ghana.

Asamoah is married and has four children. He resides in Accra, Ghana, and is fluent in English, French, and Akan.[19]
