Bulbuls are a family of birds living in Africa, the Middle East and southern Asia. They are passerine songbirds. There are about 130 species in 24 genera.

Many live in forests: the greenbuls, brownbuls, leafloves, or bristlebills. Most African species are found in rainforests whilst in Asia they live in more open areas.
