General Carlos Humberto Romero Mena (February 29, 1924 – February 27, 2017) was a Salvadoran politician and military personnel. He served as President of El Salvador, elected on February 20, 1977 in a fraudulent election and inaugurated on July 1, 1977.[1] Romero held power until October 1979 when he was forced-out of office with a reformist coup d'état by dissident, politically conservative and moderate military officers and civilians.[2]
Romero died in San Salvador on February 27, 2017 at the age of 92.[3][4]
