Charles J. Ballay II (born January 1, 1970) is an American otolaryngologist[1] and Politician.[2] He ran for the 2024 Libertarian Presidential nomination, but lost to Chase Oliver.
Early life and education
[change | change source]Ballay was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana. His father was Charles Ballay I. He grew up in Belle Chasse, a suburb of New Orleans, Louisiana. He went to high school at Jesuit High School in New Orleans.
Ballay went to Louisiana State University, University of Plymouth, (formerly Polytechnic Southwest) University of New Orleans Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, Shreveport Baylor College of Medicine, and California Ear Institute.[3]
Career
[change | change source]Ballay began his medical practice in Kerrville, Texas in 2007. In 2014, he began working in New Orleans, Louisiana[4] where he currently[when?] works as an otolaryngology physician.[5]

Ballay started running for President on August 24, 2023 as a Libertarian.[6]He got 55.1% of the popular vote. He lost at the 2024 Libertarian National Convention to Chase Oliver.[7]He endorsed Oliver after the convention.
Ballay was on nine of the fifteen primary ballots. He won one primary, California.[8]
