Clementa Carlos Pinckney (July 30, 1973 – June 17, 2015) was an American Democratic member of the South Carolina Senate, representing the 45th District since 2000. He was previously a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1997 through 2000.[1]

Pinckney was a senior pastor at Mother Emanuel A.M.E. in Charleston.[2][3] He died, along with eight others, in a mass shooting at an evening bible study at his church on June 17, 2015.[4][5][6]
