Dabney Coleman
Dabney Wharton Coleman (January 3, 1932 – May 16, 2024) was an American actor.[1] He has appeared in over 50 movies including Tootsie (1982) and You've Got Mail (1998).[2] He was born in Austin, Texas. He was also known for being the voice of Principal Peter Prickly in Recess (1997–2001) and appearing as Louis "The Commodore" Kaestner in Boardwalk Empire (2010–2011). His career began in 1961.
Coleman was nominated for six Emmy Awards, winning one in 1987. He was also nominated for three Golden Globe Awards, winning one in 1987 as well.
Coleman was married to Ann Courtney Harrell between 1957 until they divorced in 1959. He was later married to Jean Hale from 1961 until they divorced in 1984. He has four children. In 2012, Coleman revealed that he was diagnosed with throat cancer.[3]
Coleman died on May 16, 2024 at his home in Santa Monica, California at the age of 89.[4][5] The cause of death was cardiac arrest caused by heart failure.[6]
