Downfall (German: Der Untergang) is a 2004 German war movie about the final days of Adolf Hitler, the Nazi dictator of Germany, in the Führerbunker. It is set in Berlin in 1945.[2] The movie was first released in German on 16 September 2004.

The film was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

A scene in the film, where Hitler become angry and goes into a furious tirade when he finally realizes that the war is truly lost is known for being parodied and has an internet meme.[3] British Labour MP Tom Harris stepped down from his internet adviser role because of the media reaction to a Downfall parody which made fun of Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond.[4]
