The Empire of Thessalonica was a short-lived Byzantine successor state that existed from 1224 to 1246 CE. It was established by Teodor Angelos Doukas Komnen. The Empire came to an end in 1246 when Thessalonica was captured by the Empire of Nicaea, another Byzantine successor state, ruled John III Doukas Vatatzes.[1]
