Evgeny Pavlovich Velikhov (2 February 1935 – 5 December 2024) was a Russian physicist.[1] His scientific works focused in plasma physics, lasers, controlled nuclear fusion, power engineering, and magnetohydrodynamics. He was president of the Kurchatov Institute. He was a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and was the vice-president of the Academy of Sciences of the Soviet Union.

Velikhov died on 5 December 2024 in Gülnar, Turkey at the age of 89.[2]
