Filkeháza

Filkeháza (Rusyn: Φилкехаза) is a small village in Sátoraljaújhely District of Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County with a Rusyn community. Its population in 2024 was 83.

Location

It is located in the central part of the Zemplén Mountains, not far from the Slovak border. It is 89 kilometers northeast of Miskolc, the county seat, by road, and 18 kilometers northwest of Sátoraljaújhely, the nearest larger town.

In 2022, 90.7% of the population identified as Hungarian and 37.2% as Rusyn (due to dual identities, the total can exceed 100%). By religion, 36% Greek Catholic, 12.8% were Roman Catholic, 11.6% Reformed, and 1.2% non-religious (37.2% did not answer).[1]
