After many rebellions in the Ottoman Empire, the Afshar Turkmens decided to establish their own state because of the repression due to the Tanzimat laws. The revolt was led by Dadaloğlu, an ashik linked to the Kozanoğlu Afshars. He launched his first campaign against the Ottomans.
