Gary James Palmer (born May 14, 1954) is an American politician. He has represented Alabama's 6th congressional district in the United States House of Representatives since 2015. Before he was elected to the House, Palmer co-founded the Alabama Policy Institute. It is a conservative think tank, and he was president of it for a long time.[2] He is a member of the House Freedom Caucus. It is the furthest-right caucus in the House of Representatives.[3] Palmer has been chairman of the Republican Policy Committee since 2019. This makes him the fifth-highest ranking Republican in the House.
