Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia

Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia or sesquipedalophobia (for short) is the fear of long words. The word is mostly a joke from the fact that it's a long word itself. The phobia is the third longest word in the English language after the scientific name for titin and pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis.

The American Psychiatric Association does not officially recognise this phobia. Instead, hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia is considered a social phobia. However, there is not much evidence people actually have it.
