Hook made his AEW debut on the November 25, 2020 episode of Dynamite, joining his father Taz's stable Team Taz.[1] On the December 8, 2021 episode of Rampage, Hook made his AEW and professional wrestling debut, defeating Fuego Del Sol by submission with the Redrum half nelson choke.[2] Hook officially signed a contract to become a member of the AEW roster after the match.[3] He then went on a ten-match winning streak.

At Fight for the Fallen: Dynamite, Hook defeated Ricky Starks to become the new FTW Champion. This was Hook's first championship in AEW.[4]

He began to team with Jungle Boy but ended up being betrayed and attacked by him at Forbidden Door.[5] Hook defended his FTW Championship against Perry at Blood & Guts but lost the match and title. This was also Hook's first loss in AEW.[6] Hook won the championship from Perry at All In: Zero Hour, tying his father for most reigns.[7] He dropped the title again at Dynasty to Chris Jericho.[8] At All In, Hook defeated Jericho in a Last Chance match to win the FTW Championship again. If Hook lost, he could never challenge for the title for as long as Jericho was champion. With the win, Hook broke the record for most FTW Championship reigns.[9] He defended the title once and then retired it.[10]

After this father Taz was attacked, it was revealed that the attacker was Christian Cage. Hook began a feud with Cage and began teaming with Samoa Joe and Katsuyori Shibata, calling themselves The Opps.[11]
