The second generation of the Hyundai Equus was launched in 2009 Unlike the first model, this generation featured a rear-wheel drive layout, The car was built on a new platform and was available with 3.8 liter V6 and 4.6 and 5.0 liter V8 engines. It had a 6-speed and 8-speed automatic transmissions. The Equus was offered in a sedan and limousine version, with the limousine being much longer and designed for VIPs and government use.

Markets

The Hyundai Equus was initially sold only in South Korea and the second generation was sold in South America Central America United States Canada Russia China and South Korea in Middle East it was sold as the Hyundai Centennial.

Discontinuation

On November 4, 2015, Hyundai said it would move the Genesis model to its new luxury brand, Genesis Motor. The car that replaced the Hyundai Equus in 2016 was renamed the Genesis G90 (called the EQ900 in South Korea until 2018).
