Seretse Khama Ian Khama[1] (born 27 February 1953)[2] was the President of Botswana from 2008 to 2018. Khama was Vice President of Botswana before he became President. He was also a pilot in his younger years. Khama began his term as President on 1 April 2008 and served until 1 April 2018. His predecessor was Festus Mogae. His father, Seretse Khama, was the first President of Botswana. In April 2022, Ian Khama was summoned by the justice of his country. The former head of state is accused, among other things, of illegal possession of a firearm. The case dates back to 2016.[3] In December 2022, an arrest warrant was issued by Bostwana against Ian Khama who is believed to be in South Africa.
