Ilkka Aulis Hanski (14 February 1953 – 10 May 2016) was a Finnish scientist. He worked in the field of ecology at the University of Helsinki.[1][2] He is known for his research of metapopulation ecology.[3][4][5][6]
He was elected a member of the Academia Europaea in 1998.[7]
Hanski died of a long-illness on 10 May 2016 at a hospital in Helsinki, aged 63.[8]
