James Hormel

James Catherwood Hormel (January 1, 1933 – August 13, 2021) was an American philanthropist, LGBT activist, and Democratic politician. He was the United States Ambassador to Luxembourg from 1999 to 2001 during the Bill Clinton presidency.[1] Hormel was born in Austin, Minnesota. He was the first openly gay ambassador ever nominated in the United States.[2]
Hormel died on August 13, 2021 in San Francisco, California at the age of 88.[2]
