Jean-Claude van Itallie

Jean-Claude van Itallie (25 May 1936 – 9 September 2021) was a Belgian-born American playwright, performer, and theatre workshop teacher.[1] He was best known protesting against the Vietnam War and for writing America Hurrah; The Serpent and his translations of Anton Chekhov's plays.[2][3] He was born in Brussels, Belgium.
Van Itallie died in New York City on 9 September 2021 from pneumonia at the age of 85.[4]
