Kankakee /kæŋkəˈki/ is a city in Illinois, United States. It is also the county seat of Kankakee County.[4]
U.S. House of Representatives member Adam Kinzinger was born in Kankakee.[5]
History
[change | change source]The Potawatami lived in the area beginning sometime in the 18th century. In 1833 the Potawatami signed a treaty with the United States government. They agreed to leave the region and move west. Kankakee was founded in 1854.
