Kansai International Airport

Kansai International Airport (関西国際空港, Kansai Kokusai Kūkō) (IATA: KIX, ICAO: RJBB) is a Japanese airport in Osaka.[1] It is an international airport for the region. The airport is in three different cities because of where it is built. [2]


The airport is on an artificial island in Osaka Bay, 38 km (24 mi) southwest of Ōsaka Station.

It opened 4 September 1994, and the gross area is 1,068ha. This airport has two runways. One is 3500m×60m, and the other is 4000×60m. In 2011, the total number of passengers was 13,651,184 (9,902,449 were international and 3,748,735 were domestic), and of landing was 53,899 (38,252 were international and 15,647 were domestic).[3]
