Kumba Ialá

Kumba Ialá, also spelled Yalá (15 March 1953 – 4 April 2014) was a Bissau-Guinean politician. He was the President of Guinea-Bissau from 17 February 2000 until 14 September 2003. He was also the President of the Social Renewal Party (PRS). In 2008, he became a Muslim and took the name Mohamed Ialá Embaló. He was born in Bula, Portuguese Guinea.

Ialá died from cardiopulmonary arrest on 4 April 2014 in Bissau. He was 61 years old.[1]
