Lawrence F. Snowden

Lawrence Fontaine Snowden (April 14, 1921 – February 18, 2017) was an American lieutenant general. He was in the United States Marine Corps. He began serving in 1942 and retired in 1979. He was involved in World War II, the Vietnam War and the Korean War. Commands he held include Chief of Staff, United States Forces Japan (from 1972 to 1975) and Chief of Staff, Headquarters Marine Corps (from 1977 to 1979). He was born in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Snowden died on February 18, 2017 in Tallahassee, Florida. He was 95.[1]
