Leo Vroman
Leo Vroman (April 10, 1915 – February 22, 2014) was a Jewish-Dutch-American hematologist, a writer and a poet (mainly writing in Dutch) and an illustrator.
Early life
[change | change source]Vroman was born in Gouda. He studied biology at Utrecht University. When the Nazis occupied the Netherlands on May 10, 1940, he went to London.
Education
[change | change source]After the war, Vroman went to New York. There he worked as a hematology researcher. He has been an American citizen since 1951.
Death
[change | change source]Vroman spent his last years in Fort Worth, Texas. He died on February 22, 2014, aged 98.[1]
