Long and Foster is the largest privately owned real estate company in the United States. The company currently has around 170 sales offices with over 10,000 agents, mainly in the Mid-Atlantic region.

In 1968, Long and Foster was founded by Henry Long and Wesley Foster.[1] Eleven years later, the company transferred complete ownership to Wesley Foster.[1] Since its creation, the company has set up offices in Virginia, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, New Jersey, West Virginia, Delaware, and North Carolina.
