Maryana Iskander
Maryana Iskander is an Egyptian-born American social entrepreneur and lawyer. In 2022, she became the chief executive officer (CEO) of the Wikimedia Foundation.
Iskander started her work as an associate at McKinsey and Co. after graduating from Oxford. Iskander worked as a clerk for Diane P. Wood on the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago, Illinois, after graduating from Yale Law School. After that, she advised David Leebron, the president of Rice University. Two years later, Iskander quit her position at Rice to become the chief operating officer of the New York-based Planned Parenthood Federation of America. She has also served as a law clerk at Vinson & Elkins in Houston and Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York, as well as a strategy consultant at W. L. Gore & Associates.
