Mortimer Leo Downey, III (August 9, 1936 – November 2, 2023) was the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Transportation from 1993 to 2001. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Downey died on November 2, 2023 in Oakton, Virginia at the age of 87.[1]
