Patricio Aylwin Azócar (November 26, 1918 – April 19, 2016) was a Chilean politician. He served as President of Chile from March 11, 1990 through March 11, 1994. He was the first president of Chile after democracy was restored in 1990. He was also a lawyer and former senator.
Aylwin was born in Viña del Mar, Chile on November 26, 1918. He married Leonor Oyarzún in 1948. They had five children. Aylwin died on April 19, 2016 at his home in Santiago from respiratory failure complicated from a fall, at the age of 97.[1]
