Poughkeepsie (pronounced /pəˈkɪpsiː/) is a city in New York, which is in the United States. It is the county seat of Dutchess County, New York. The city sits along the Hudson River, between New York City and Albany.

The Poughkeepsie Bridge is in this city. It was an early state capital of New York before the capital moved permanently to Albany.
