Quenemo is a city in Osage County, Kansas, United States. It is along the Marais des Cygnes River. In 2020, 288 people lived there.[3]
History
[change | change source]Quenemo was planned out around 1870.[4] Quenemo was the name of a Sac and Fox Indian chief.[5] A fire in 1878 destroyed a lot of the town. Quenemo had a lot of growth in 1884 after the AT&SF railroad was built through it.[4]

[change | change source]Quenemo is at 38°34′49″N 95°31′36″W / 38.58028°N 95.52667°W (38.580223, -95.526614). The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 0.44 square miles (1.14 km2). All of it is land.[2]

2020 census
[change | change source]The 2020 census says that there were 288 people, 125 households, and 81 families living in Quenomo. Of the households, 72.0% owned their home and 28.0% rented their home.
The median age was 46.6 years. Of the people, 93.1% were White, 0.7% were Native American, and 6.3% were two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.7% of the people.[3][6]
2010 census
[change | change source]The 2010 census says that there were 388 people, 139 households, and 90 families living in Quenomo.[7]
Education
[change | change source]Quenemo is a part of USD 456 Marais des Cygnes Valley. The district high school is Marais des Cygnes Valley High School. Their mascot is the Trojans.[8]
