Rudolf 'Rudi' Flögel (born 13 December 1939) is an Austrian former professional footballer. He played most of the time as a striker for Rapid Vienna. He also played for the Austrian national football team.
Club career
[change | change source]Rudi Flögel began his career in 1952 at FC Weißgärber. In 1958 he moved to SK Rapid Wien. Rudi Flögel played almost his entire career at this club. He played 14 seasons for them, playing 333 matches and scoring 145 goals. He won the Austrian Championship and and the Austrian Cup four times.
At the end of his career he played for SV Admira Wiener Neustadt. There he played another year in the top league. After the team were relegated, he moved to 1. Simmeringer SC. In 1974 he ended his playing career.
International career
[change | change source]He made his debut for Austria in a May 1960 friendly match against Scotland. He earned 40 caps, scoring 6 goals. His last international was a September 1969 friendly match against West Germany.[1]
Manager career
[change | change source]He managed 1. Simmeringer SC, SC Neusiedl am See, Wiener Sport-Club, Favoritner AC and other smaller clubs from Vienna.
