The Rwandan franc is the currency of Rwanda. There are coins of 1,5,10,20,50 and 100 francs, and notes of 100,500,1000,2000 and 5000 francs.There are 100 centimes to a franc, but the smallest coin is 1 franc. The ISO currency code used is RWF. FRw and RF are also used. The Rwandan Franc became the currency of Rwanda, when the territory changed from being a German colony to being a Begian one. The Rwandan Franc was first used in 1964, two years after Rwada had become independent.
