Sang Guowei

Sang Guowei (Chinese: 桑国卫; pinyin: Sāng Guówèi) (11 November 1941 – 7 December 2023) was a Chinese pharmacologist, physician and politician.

Early life and Career

He was a native of Wuxing, Zhejiang and was born in Shanghai.

After finishing his studies at Shanghai Medical College, he became a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. He led the Chinese Peasants' and Workers' Democratic Party, a smaller political group in China. From 2008 to 2013, he held the role of Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.[1]

On 7 December 2023, Guowei passed away due to an illness (which is not known). He was 82 years old at the time of his death.[2]
