Saser Kangri

Saser Kangri is a massif (a group of mountains) in the Karakoram range, in India. It is a group of six named mountains.[1] The tallest is Saser Kangri I at 7,672 metres (25,171 ft).[2] It is the 35th highest mountain in the world. The first people to reach the top of Saser Kangri I were Dawa Norbu, Da Tenzing, Nima Tenzin, and Thondup, in 1973.[3]

The second highest mountain in the massif is Saser Kangri II East. It is 7,513 metres (24,649 ft) tall and is the 49th highest mountain in the world.[4] The first people to reach the top were Mark Richey, Steve Swenson, and Freddie Wilkinson, in 2011.[5][6]

The other four mountains in the massif are:

  • (1) Saser Kangri II West (7,500 metres (24,600 ft))[7]
  • (2) Saser Kangri III (7,495 metres (24,590 ft))[8]
  • (3) Saser Kangri IV (7,415 metres (24,327 ft))[9]
  • (4) Plateau Peak (7,310 metres (23,980 ft)).[10]
