Shervin Hajipour (born March 30, 1997) is an Iranian singer and songwriter from Babolsar. He started sharing song covers on social media in late 2018. On March 22, 2019, he performed "Maybe Paradise" on the TV show New Era and later released it as his first single, which made him popular among young Iranians.[1]
He became well-known after releasing his song "Baraye," which became a symbol of the 2022 protests. In 2023, he won the first Grammy Award for Best Song for Social Change at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards for "Baraye."[2]
In the same year, Time magazine listed him as one of the 100 most influential people in the world.[3][4]
On March 1, 2024, he was sentenced to 3 years and 8 months in prison and forced to create music critical of American aggression because of his song "Baraye."
