Somnath Chatterjee (25 July 1929 – 13 August 2018) was an Indian politician. He was a member of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) for most of his life. He was the Speaker of the Lok Sabha (House of the People) from 2004 to 2009.[1]

Chatterjee died on 13 August 2018 from a heart attack in a private hospital in Kolkata, aged 89.[2]
