Stanford torus

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Stanford torus is a hypothetical spacestead concept in the shape of a wheel of a size range capable of accommodating 10,000 to 140,000 permanent residents and a few thousand more visitors with a similar population density to a typical inner suburb. The 10000 person version would be about 1.8 kilometers or about 3 miles in diameter and an interior width of around 780 meters \ around 800 yards. The wheel would have a spinning interior to simulate gravity.
