Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, he first appears in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) and is notable for his strong moral compass, leadership abilities, and super-soldier abilities that came from an experimental serum developed during World War II.

After becoming Captain America, he fights against Hydra and its leader, Johann Schmidt (Red Skull). He wields a vibranium shield, which becomes one of his iconic weapons.
