TIE fighter

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A depiction of TIE fighters flying though space.

The TIE Fighter is a spacecraft seen in the Star Wars universe. TIE stands for twin ion engines. The engines are powered by solar panels that provide it with the ability to move and maneuver.[1] These ships have no hyper drive and are short range fighters. Their production was also more cost-effective than other ships.[2]

TIE fighters also come in different varieties such as the TIE interceptor, the TIE bomber, the clawcraft and perhaps others.[2]
