Talk:Basso continuo
Appearance
The term "thoroughbass" does not mean the same thing as "figured bass," though nowadays they refer to the same musical practice. "Thoroughbass," like "basso continuo," means a bass part that runs throughout (thoroughout, in 16th-19th c. English) the entire piece. (cf. Orlando Gibbons, Second Service, Magnificat, "thoroughout all generations") LorenCarle (talk) 14:36, 17 December 2013 (UTC)Loren Carle, organist and harpsichordist, Montréal.
