Far from simple[change source]

This seems to have been simplified almost not at all from ENWP. I don't think this is a good starting point, nor see any prospect of it being much improved in the next decade or two. My quick Google search finds only one reasonably simple explanation of the subject, in Britannica. If it isn't currently practical to adapt that or otherwise get a good starting point, we might as well get rid of the article here and wait a decade or two for someone to find or make one. Are you saying that this mathematical subject is too complex to explain on simple? Remember that it is only the english that is being simplified not the maths. Mathematics is a universal language so the only challenge here is to replace or explain the more difficult english words. Brian R Hunter (talk) 15:35, 1 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry to be late, but alas, most mathematical notation is only the universal language of mathematicians. Once it marches beyond ambition, detraction, uglification and derision, it pretty soon becomes as mysterious as hieroglyphics, for the laity. Which brings the question, for whom are we writing? I am sorry you found this simple maths too difficult. Clearly this article is not for you... though if you would like help in understanding the strange symbols I will do my best to assist you (genuine offer). I think that there are students of maths who are also ESL who might find it informative or helpful. Brian R Hunter (talk) 22:09, 3 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]
